Definitionon of Synonyms

Synonyms are words that have different forms, for example writing other than pronunciation, but words that have similar or similar meanings. Synonyms are usually called equations or word equivalents.

There are some words that have synonyms or similarities, examples:
Achieve - Accomplish
Admit - Confess
Administer - Manage
Reply - Answer
See - Look
Fast - Quick
Large - Big
Jail - Prison
Drink - Beverage
Quickly - Speedly
Buy - Purchase
On - Upon

Synonyms can be any part of speech, as long as both words belong to the same part of speech. Examples:

  • noun = drink and beverage
  • verb = buy and purchase
  • adjective = big and large
  • adverb = quickly and speedily
  • preposition = on and upon


Definition of Homonyms


Homonym is a word that has a different meaning but the pronunciation or spelling is the same. If the pronunciation is the same as Homophon, but if the same is the spelling, it is called Homograph.

Examples of Homonym :
Adds - Ads
Allowed - Aloud
Aunt - Ant
Ate - Eight
Blew - Blue
Ball - Bawl
Bear - Bare
Be - Bee
Billed - Build
Board - Bored
